​The Department of Industry (Australia) was invited by the Institute for Industrial Productivity to participate in an energy efficiency policy sharing initiative with key Chinese National, Regional and City Governments in February 2012. Patrick Crittenden participated in the delegation to contribute to his detailed knowledge of Australian industrial and commercial energy efficiency programs. Meetings were held with Chinese policy makers in Beijing as well as the cities of Jinan and Dezhou in Shandong province. The visit also included tours of a steel mill and coal mine to observe the application of Chinese energy efficiency  policies in practice.
